I don't see how the color scheme change helps with accessibility and readability. Okay, maybe the contrast with road names was bad before, but the major point was that important roads (like avenues) were highlighted in YELLOW.

Now every road is the same color and you can't distinguish between important and secondary roads.

This is why I prefer the OpenStreetMap scheme even though it has its share of controversies. At least they have rules to color important roads so they stand out more on the map.

As it’s often said, OpenStreetMap is just the data :) One can style/render it differently.

- https://openwhatevermap.xyz/ shows a fun mix of some of the available renderings.

All based on the same underlying data.
