Ask HN: Are you switching to Google Analytics 4 or an alternative?
2 points by graeme on Jan 20, 2023 | hide | past | favorite | 2 comments
Have used Google Analytics for over a decade. It was free, simple, unlimited history and had good predefined reports.

Just looked into universal analytics. It has a limited history, and must be used with a separate program to make sense of the data, and has no pre defined reports. If I'm understanding correctly.

For a solo business it doesn't seem ideal. Want to know if people here will switch to it, or if they're using another alternative and what the costs are like.

Can you clarify the product here, as Universal Analytics is also the name of the version of Google Analytics that is being superseded by GA4.

If that's what you're referring to, then yes, we're switching, our marketing departments rely on too many integrations with the Google Ecosystem, including ads, to want to move away from that ecosystem in the short ter,.

You can send that data into bigquery with ga4 if you need too.
