Musk has set a goal of 500k cars by 2018. This one is cranking out 74k. Even with the Audi genius, no way in hell are they multiplying throughout by 7x at this facility in the next 10 months. They are going to need more facilities. Period.

You are right that they won't shut the plant anytime soon. In the long term, they could manufacture anywhere. Staying in Fremont isn't a sure thing.
