so most likely the speech-to-text startup was not funded by ycombinator

I want multi boot for phones. Why is it acceptable for phones that one can not install another operating system?

you can do WebM and/or Ogg Theora live streaming with Flumotion, Icecast, GStreamer. This just works in the video tag in Firefox, Chrome and Opera. It does not work in Safari and IOS since Apple refuses to support those formats.

thats totally wrong. you can do WebM live streaming that works in Firefox, Chrome and Opera. Ogg Theora with Icecast also works in Firefox, Chrome, Opera

But not ie9. And I don't believe they support playing h264 video in a webm container, so you either have to write your own broadcasting tools or transcode everything to vp8.

why would you use bitcoin below that though? requiring a both vendor and customer have an account at some paypal like site just makes it paypal. it will have the same problems. so what does bitcoin add? nothing

Lower transaction fees maybe? Like in the 0.x%.

with the dual helix 2 sexes seam a good match for matching dna.

no that doesn't at all. Why not have any two humans mate to have offspring? there are 23 pairs of chromosomes and only 1 pair is sex determining. doesn't really make sense to have male/female especially since the 'male' physical characteristics are small enough to be present in a female also.

Sadly, it still does not work with 2 monitors. i.e. attaching a projector for a presentation, all your windows get moved to the projector. can be quite a problem if you are in a meeting. in addition external monitor can only be to the right, since the dash is fixed on the left.

If you want to drag something inside an application to the left side, the dash shows up and blocks the left side of the application. no way to move the dash.

Just two major bugs in terms of usability. ignored for a long time.

>Sadly, it still does not work with 2 monitors.

I've been using it with two monitors both at home and at work since launch, with zero configuration.

The second issue is certainly annoying, but 'it does not work with two monitors' is a pretty strong claim.

I also have been using two monitors since 11.04 came out. It works great.

What kind of graphics card do you have?

One nVidia and one intel, not that it matters. I'm arguing with his blanket claim that 'it still does not work with 2 monitors', not that there are no driver issues on ubuntu.

Yeah, I think this is highly dependent upon the graphics card and the available drivers -- always run into driver hell with Linux

I switched to using just my monitor when using my laptop at work for this reason. It worked all right in 10.10 for me, but switching to 11.04 caused some issues when having 2 screens at a different res.

As I understood with my googling, it has something to with my laptop's integrated i815 graphics chip (and possibly with the chip itself). I do plan to upgrade to 11.10, but not until after my Monday deadline

... is really slow for opening large mailboxes, are you using some trick to make it faster? mutt alone just scans all mails before displaying anything. thats not a good idea for 100k+ emails

there's the mutt header_cache directive which can help

although if you have 100k+ emails in a folder, particularly a non-archive folder I'd suggest you're doing it wrong

header_cache only works with Maildir and IMAP. If he's using Maildir for a mailbox w/ 100k+ emails, then he may start running into filesystem limitations.

notmuch

However, you must be willing to integrate it with other tools (a frontend, something like fetchmail, and something like procmail, etc.).

my particular recipe involves fetchmail, procmail, msmtp, vim, aspell, ical, etc..

but yes, if you are stuffing +100k emails into one folder -- that is completely insane -- that's why you use procmail to sort your email into different folders as it arrives; I subscribe to a LOT of email lists and ctrl-D delivers a lot of magic when I don't want to or have the time to sort through a bunch of crap but

what if you have a video conference with 8 participants each at 720p?

For some reason this comment put thoughts into my head of people having multiple large screens positioned around their house instead of windows.

You could have beautiful HD panoramic views from around the world in your cheap wall-facing apartment. Of course the technology would need to come down in price but we all know how quickly that tends to happen.
