While if you wanted to do so you would probably just add the .com and skip the middle man, I know of quite a few people who use search to get to sites even though they know their URLs.
That isn’t to say I hate what this site is doing, I think it is quite neat, but I do think we have to consider that there are more ways used to get to Google than just entering Google.com
Those people should be educated how to create and then (re)use bookmarks/favorites. It's a better tool than searching the same domain every day or multiple times per day.
How long does one need to watch porn in a single sitting? Netflix,YouTube, TikTok, etc. benefit from the fact we can sit there all day watching it (and some people do). Porn? Well...
In order for that scenario to be an issue, I'd need to have made an agreement with Amazon to sell AWS out of a building and then Amazon decided to open up an Amazon AWS store in the strip mall 2 roads over, right?
Think what they're really protecting here is that dealerships must house, maintain, and purchase a lot of very expensive merchandise (vehicles) and if a more "official" distribution channel popped up in town, that'd hose dealerships that have invested a lot in a particular brand(s).
Prior to 911, hijacked planes were not an unknown thing. I don’t know numbers, but remember periodic events in the news of x plane that was hijacked landing at y airport with local officials needing to meet hijacker demands for it to return to its flight.
Was weird when it happened, but we also didn’t have the hour of processing through security we do now.
My work computer resets my preferences after each reboot (which I only do when system updates come down). Otherwise, it sticks. Personal computer keeps my defaults.
It's both work and personal (Windows 10). I run my own small business. I don't have a "corporate policy".
I was under the impression that Windows somehow challenges apps by performing some type of test, and resets the file associations "for the user's safety" if the apps don't respond appropriately.
May want to look into it with support or something, this isn’t normal behavior. It should retain your defaults (it does on the Windows machines and Windows VMs I’ve made or worked on. My work laptop being the only one that doesn’t and that’s a corporate thing).
If the browser doesn't work with your ethics of how a browser should operate, then it isn't the browser for you. That's okay. There are other options out there.
By chance do you know of a Windows alternative (likely w/o the battery level indicator and the like, but specifically the redirecting the headphones/airpods/whatever to the device or to another such as a paired phone part)?
I don't know if this app works or not, but if there were a piece of software that I could use for my Sony XM2 headphones to cleanly switch between devices, it'd be in "shut up and take my money" territory by default. Was tempted to buy the XM4 headphones because I thought this was what they were advertising with the bluetooth switching, but I've read that feature doesn't work well for the devices that implement it (not the Sony headphones specifically).
So agreeing with everyone, go with a different name. Also selfishly, try and figure out a way to do this with non-Bose headphones and add it.
For what it's worth, I just replaced my o.g QC35s with the XM4s and get along just fine with it.
I keep it connected to my Pixel 5 and a Pi running OSMC attached to a TV and can pretty seamlessly switch between the devices by playing media on whichever device I want to hear.
That's right. Then when someone mentions they'd rather have a product that can be bought because ads and trackers are the devil, OP suggests they'll remove ads if they pinky promise to to sponsor. Buying a product is different from being a sponsor.
Can’t speak for the original person posting, but my flow was like theirs. They (T-mobile) said that my password was very old and “recommended” I change it. I say “recommended” because there was no way to go through without resetting my password to something new.
