Have you looked into using a CDN? A good CDN configuration can pay for itself in cost savings, regardless of whether you go self hosted or remain in the cloud.
I think the interesting point here is that the hardware is available on all Teslas. The functionality shown in the video could be available on everyone's Tesla by installing an update. What they showed may be similar to what's been demonstrated by other companies in the past, but the potential for broad availability is novel.
Some would argue that Gathering training data is beneficial to users in the long term, and the more aggressive auto-manufacturers go about it the better the cars will be to us users.
Was there anything special about the tmux config used? What keybindings were used to move between panes? Seemed like snappier movement than you'd get with the defaults, unless maybe the video was sped up.
From my experience, this is confusing the issue - the OP was talking about using their DDoS filtering service, not their CDN. This is done by Prolexic - who despite being acquired by Akamai, still seems to function fairly independently.
I've no idea what the CDN team are like, but it's not really fair to say don't use product X from company Y, because product Z sucks.
We've tried a number of DDoS filtering services, and Proxleic/Akamai has been the most professional and effective so far. They're also the most expensive, by a fair bit, but you get what you pay for I guess.
Could you define buckets of cash? On the low end, one gets 30TB/month (1gbps uplink, 200mbs guaranteed) included for ~60 Euro a month, or 100TB for ~160 Euro (for a single server, outbound) at Hetzner:
Such a single server, isn't the same as a CDN of course, just curious what you consider "buckets of cash". I see cachefly asks for 400 USD for 2/TB a month, for comparison.
Body temperature is really hard to tell in an accurate way, even if we have some temperature sensor very close to your body: the sensor would be influenced a lot by the type of mattress.
The interesting one for circadian cycles is the "Core Temperature" but it's rather uncomfortable to measure (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Human_body_temperature#Core_tem...), what we can do instead is measuring your heart rate at rest that is something typically constant for a healthy person: if that varies from the usual value more than about 5bpm it usually means you have been exercising A LOT or that you are sick.
