So is typequicker - you only pay if you want the personalized, LLM powered features. Everything else is free - not to mention ad-free!

This is something that I constantly struggle with and my co founder and I discuss a lot.

I’m always very tempted to just build everything.

Example: We need a URL shortener - let me just put a basic one together over the weekend.

I’m always tempted to build vs buy.

My cofounder says sometimes that being an engineer founder can be bad for this reason - just because you can build something, doesn’t mean you should.

Oh this is actually a good idea!

I’m a heavy Anki user but haven’t considered doing Anki while waiting on LLM responses.

Disclaimer: I’m also the creator of https://www.raycast.com/anton-suprun/anki

(Made it to make studying Anki cards and adding cards more convenient and more keyboard friendly)

Raycast is a desktop AI agent?

I see that your extension supports specific Anki note types. I really heavily on custom note types. Is there an interface to add support for custom note types? Does it run on Linux?

> Raycast is a desktop AI agent

No - it is a MacOS launcher app. This Spotlight but with quite a few more features and very extensible (especially if you code) and has a large open source extension community (mine is just one of many)

> does it run on Linux?

Sadly no, only Mac for now but I think they’re expanding to Windows and Linux on future.

> custom note types

Not really sadly :/

I want to add many improvements including this but I don’t have capacity right now - hands full with another project

Thank you, Mac launchers are always interesting. That seems to be a big field.

As soon as I find a good desktop AI agent for Linux, I think I'll take a shot a writing an Anki MCP server.

Building https://typequicker.com

Hoping to make the best typing application.

Key features:

- absolutely no ads; this an education tool

- SmartPractice: we use a time series db to track weakpoints (bigrams, individual characters, etc. their time to type and errors) and then select the most relevant ones to generate typing practice text

- advanced stats; after each session we provide the most detailed stats than any typing platform

This a passion project that turned to a business.

Hope you try it :)

I’m building TypeQuicker: https://www.typequicker.com

Typing is an extremely underrated skill and especially in the age of LLMs, it is the bottle neck in a lot of cases.

I’ve never been fond of existing typing apps; excessive ads, typing random words, etc so I built my own.

You can practice typing code, use your own text, etc

We have a paid plan for features where you can type natural text that targets your weak points (via SmartPractice) and many others. Other than that, it’s both free to use (and ad-free)

nice!

i open and close parens, brackets and curlies at the same time.

is there a mode/setting to capture this intent?

Hi - thanks for checking it out!:)

Sorry, I’m not sure I follow - do you mean you type: () and then type within them?

exactly.

AFAIK a lot of programmers do this before their editor would auto close them and so its now muscle memory to

(+)+Ctrl+B or (+)+ ←

to finish a statement

That’s great! Going to give it to my kids to try.

Thanks! Any feedback is welcome :)

There’s also this:

https://opengraphexamples.com/

Collection of open graph image examples.

That’s a good point - but I suspect that many people who don’t use StackOverflow still participate in the survey. It’s quite popular

Hey it looks awesome!

Just a friendly heads up, I’m on mobile and I noticed that the burger menu doesn’t work.

(iPhone 13)

Otherwise - awesome work

Well… that was new. Fixed now!

Thanks for the report and thanks for the kind words :)

I didn’t like the UX either but love everything else about it.

I put together and built a Raycast extension for Anki for this reason: https://www.raycast.com/anton-suprun/anki

Using Raycast keyboard friendly UI makes Anki a lot more fun and friction-less.

If you use a Mac - give it a go.

Apologies if some features are missing - I’ve been procrastinating on patching it with some requested features

Yeah, sorry, I don't like yours either :)

No problem :)

Side note: if anyone else is reading this and likes it - contributors are welcome.

There’s a lot of improvements to be made and I could use the help as I’m quite busy with a few other projects at the moment
