As rhetorical gambits go, the “what other people do is religion” is getting pretty old.

It’s meant to reflect on the speaker as the voice of reason among the thoughtless. Who wouldn’t want to think of themselves that way? I’m the smart one who sees through the dogma!

But it doesn’t have that effect anymore – mostly it makes the speaker look someone who disrespects his readers.




As rhetorical gambits go, the “what other people do is religion” is getting pretty old.

And a bit rich coming from a high priest. He wrote an entire pretentious rant (Rails is Omakase) when someone questioned his own dogma.
