Remember to actually solve a problem, rather than implement your idea. I'm in the same situation, and we keep motivating ourselves by refocusing on the customer centric model proposed by Steve Blank. Small iterative cycles, actually talking to your customers -- that's your advantage. Be small, be nimble, and you'll be harder for the big guys to keep up with.
