As an enthusiastic photog who grew up exactly on the film/digital divide, I can tell you exactly where all of that value that was "destroyed" at Kodak went. Straight to me. When I pull 300 high quality pictures off my freaking phone and casually discard 275 of them that I'm not happy with, I still feel as rich as a sultan.
