Not the same exact yellow lead compound, I suspect red lead oxide instead.

I've been suspicious of red lead oxide in paprika for a while now too.

Some paprika just seems so much brighter colored than ever to me.

I'd be even more worried about Kashmiri Chili powder which is supposed to be bright red so there would be even more temptation for adulteration if a batch turned out less red than expected.
