I agree. A goal of humanity should be to make energy too cheap to meter. Using AI will help us get there. Every minute OP saves using ChatGPT instead of a text editor, OP can devote to other things that could incrementally get us there.
OP isn't going to save the world. Them saving a few minutes isn't going to free them up to discover unlimited energy. This is just excess consumption masked as something else.
This is just more excuses to justify laziness. "Its worth it cuz one day I'll solve world hunger."
More excuses. This is how people justify that SUV or truck when a subcompact works fine.
I agree we should save time in some aspects of our lives. But justifying more excess because we think we might one day cure world hunger is asinine.
I have the imagination. I just don't agree with using such shallow excuses to justify destroying the world. Its such a lame argument to make and can be used to justify anything.
Your thinking is "race to the bottom". Justify everything until we destroy it all.
Also please drop the attitude. Its in violation of HN's rules.
Tragedy of the commons. Much of the cost is not born by the purchaser; the true cost of pollution (including greenhouse gases and global warming) is placed on others who had no input.
