Scandinavians tend to have lactose intolerance as children that they later outgrow. It's not a universal thing, but is common enough.

I still do. I’m not Scandinavian. I’m of similar background to his kids. I can do a glass or so of milk or a bowlful of cereal but huge amounts of Alfredo or chugging a gallon is right out.
