Thank you for the links. It took me a few hours to figure out their relevancy since they all seem to be about power and armor. After a good night sleep I realized this implies the longbow was about power and against armor.
I thought it might have had to do with range. The description of how archers were used made me consider that have longer range bows would be an advantage and thought that might have be related to the longbow.
