On the other hand, the multiplier is far more regular in structure than a Z80. The datapath on the Pentium is several times wider too.

A bit surprisingly, the Z80's datapath is 4 bits wide. The Pentium's FPU is more than 64 bits wide (extra bits for rounding and stuff). So, yes, there is a big difference in the datapath widths.
