For anyone considering bringing up kids here, I think the best is a small rural town. New Zealanders are generally fairly accepting although maybe some bigotry (I have known different lesbian couples in rural areas and they were accepted from what I have seen).

And wayyy better for kids independence. My sisters brought up great kids on a lifestyle farm block (2 hours from Christchurch).

City schools have some bad influences. More difficult environment.
