I too remember where I was when I learned he'd died: at home reading this[0] on HN, first learning about him and his contributions through others' fond memories and discussion... and also where I first encountered the submitted article here :)

He was a good friend of mine, and I joined his last company very early. I found out from the defcon twitter account. I miss talking to him.
