A perusal of HN is simply reading various folks complaints and pet peeves for the day.

As social media platforms discovered, the highest engagement comes from anger and frustration (basically politics).


Luckily HN seems to me a bit exceptional in that comments generating positive reactions are surfaced over negative ones.


I don't think that's the case, one of my frustrations with HN is the top comment is nearly always some plausible sounding, probably wrong and negative comment. Look at the top comment on this post for instance.


I don’t find it negative at all. You’re referring to the top voted comment on the OP, by “rzwitserloot”?

Whether it’s wrong or not, I can’t say. The comment seems open about being a bit speculative. It’s asking questions that I find interesting.
