I wanted to like Go, but I could never shake the feeling that it was "just" a marginally better C. The runtime and tooling is excellent, yes, but the fact that it eschews obvious advancements since the 1970s (e.g. enums with actual type system backing, iterators until recently...) does, in fact, scream "poor design" to me.
