Done for WWI, WWII, and now starting Korea as you mentioned. The Great War channel was the most popular endeavour, and was created by a different production company than the latter two, though Indy Neidell hosted every series.
They were covering what happened every week as if the war was happening in real time. They also covered tactics and equipment, key events and people, spying, and war crimes in specials and side series, and followed D-Day and Pearl Harbor hour by hour.
They produced a video each week for six years outlining what was going on in the second world war. Quite an undertaking and quite a historical document in itself.
