Personally I don't think this was handled very responsibly.
As they note, it's been hinted at for a long time now. Now that they finally announce official deprecation, it's immediate. It would have been much preferred to announce the official date _in advance_. So a point in 3/6/9/12 months time.
libolm is still heavily utilized in the wider Matrix ecosystem and a less violent push off it would have been kinder.
yup, we didn’t do a great job of the deprecation logistics here. however, given a choice of switching primitives (which we don’t have $ or time to do, given all the effort has been on vodozemac for years) or marking it as deprecated, we had little choice.
