In today's world, catchy headlines and articles often distract readers from the facts and relevant information. Simply News is an attempt to cut through the fray and provide straightforward daily updates about what's actually happening. By coordinating multiple AI agents, Simply News processes sensationalist news articles and transforms them into a cohesive, news-focused podcast across many distinct topics every day. Each agent is responsible for a different part of this process. For example, we have agents which perform the following functions:

The Sorter: Scans a vast array of news sources and filters the articles based on relevance and significance to the podcast category. The Pitcher: Crafts a compelling pitch for each sorted article, taking into account the narrative angle presented in the article. The Judge: Evaluates the pitches and makes an editorial decision about which should be covered. The Scripter: Drafts an engaging script for the articles selected by the Judge, ensuring clarity and precision for the listening.

Our AIs are directed to select news articles most relevant to the podcast category. Removing the human from this loop means explicit biases don't factor into the decision about what to cover.

AI-decisions are also much more auditable, and this transparency is a key reason why AI can be a powerful tool for removing bias and sensationalism in the news.

We recently launched, so any and all feedback would be appreciated.

I'm sorry, all we can do is listen to these? We can't read them?

This is really well done. It shows not only a good handle on agentic approaches to using LLMs to get valuable output, but that you've placed a lot of emphasis on the listener experience. The music cues narrative form are instantly recognizable to news podcast listeners, and that's a good thing. It feels very natural.

Audio quality is excellent, voices are great. I'm curious, what AI service is used for text to speech generation?

>AI-decisions are also much more auditable.

How can you audit what's going on inside your LLM?

>processes sensationalist news articles

I can't think why I'd want to source news from sensationalist articles instead of starting with non-sensationalist articles.

fantastic layout and execution, even the chapter text overlay on the time bar is a great feature.

at first I thought the canned newsy dialogue would be too robotic but it truly helps with retention and surprisingly not too dissimilar to actual talking heads. I think biases will always be smuggled in by the LLM and the origin publisher. There was a good AI news product from earlier in the week https://newscord.org/ which heavily noted all the glaring omissions between each source so you could quickly see that some sources are deliberately vague. So you'd have to track agenda serving omissions before you can say bias is corrected for.

It's probably about time someone made an awesome-ai-speaker-podcasts list on github.

the audio is surpisingly natural
