Plenty of people reproduce and then divorce. Let's see if they have fewer grandchildren.
If you prioritize your family line, you should be cheering for many others to NOT reproduce. Each family chain that dies out leaves more room for yours and generates more wealth along the way that will be absorbed by yours after their death.
Well I'm almost 50 and in an open relationship and into other 'deviancies', not everyone of our generation is so straight-laced :) But I've always known I didn't want kids. And there's nothing wrong with that, humanity is not going to go extinct because there's always people who do want them. And reducing population a bit will help with environmental and housing issues.
Though I'm not sure if I'm a boomer, that's more like our parents :) in a way I always felt our generation was more boring, after the boomer generation created the hippies!
I see a lot more openmindedness in the younger generations though, I have to admit. I love the new culture of sex-positivity they are creating.
The quality of life for a planet with 1B total population would be much better than for 7B or 8B. More clean water, air, food, better views, less crowded beaches, more lithium, copper and oil available per person, etc.
Allow those who are willing to not crowd it all up to have a fun and positive life, reduce the population without war? Should be a no-brainer.
Although, note that this was specifically about Jewish religious tradition. That demographic group is feeling pressure, and has strong feelings of group survival.
What a conclusion!
