I get this is probably a reflection of corporate culture in the 90s (a bit cartoonish, I think) but I think this attitude does little to make Tech taken more seriously and “at the table”.

Instead we self-reinforce the image of childish kids doing mischief and pranks when the things don’t go our way.

The CTO was at fault in this story, for failing to convey the gravity and for being used as a doormat if things went bad.



Bold of you to assume there was a CTO back in the days of ISDN... even in a bank.


i suspect they meant the CIO; i agree, it was their role to relay the real need here not just push a request over without already securing approval from the rest of their c suite peers.
