Ask HN: Did anyone work at DEC in Nashua in the 80s?

I grew up in Nashua, NH, and my 12yo son is looking through old family albums. My dad worked at DEC on Spit Brook Road in Nashua in the 1980s, and we found this old group photo [0] in one of our albums.

Did anybody here work in that group? Can you share any stories about that time? For example I'd love to know the story of the ventriloquist dummy in the front row wearing a "VAX/VMS Project Leader" shirt, smoking a cigarette.

I found a google groups message [1] that shares something about the bar code on the wall in the background. Apparently it originally said "digitalsoftwareengineering", but was later changed to "customerswin whenwedeliver". I believe this photo shows the original message.

After reading "Soul of new machine" I feel DEC (and Data General) are two companies I'd work for free for one year if ever possible.

Since somebody will ask, it doesn't appear that Dave Cutler is in this photo.

Cutler worked at the DEC Mill campus in Massachusetts.
