Meta question: Can I trust cryptographic schemes that are too clever for me to understand? We're taking things on faith too often already; much simpler things bite us like "the CPU's random number generator works and is actually being used."

I thought Hackers used to believe in meritocracy. That someone could be more than their appearance. But modern (self-proclaimed) "Hackers" seem to be exactly the opposite.
