The truth is that most managers are incompetent. It’s that simple. Most of them think that it is their job to make all the decisions. Nope wrong. Or that they need to interrupt people all the time to get status reports or whatever. Nope. Wrong again. No cookie.
I actually blame the companies they work for. Being a manager is something you need to be trained to do well. And yet companies promote and hire managers who have never received even the most basic training on how to be a manager. A few still succeed despite their lack of training. But those ones are rare.
Look at the military. They train their leaders before putting them in charge of soldiers. They know how crucial it is to have well trained managers (officers) in charge. For some reason companies don’t get this.
