Charged in Fraudulent Nursing Diploma Scheme (Jan 2023) (justice.gov)

7600 people obtained fake nursing diplomas and used them to pass the nurse exam NCLEX, subsequently working as nurses. It appears that these individuals were employed as nurses in locations outside of the United States, as the US does not acknowledge foreign diplomas and experience, thereby necessitating the use of counterfeit diplomas.

This nurse had a real nursing degree but...

Director Tobias Lindholm does an amazing job with Eddie Redmayne as the villain nurse. Redmayne is up there with Anthony Hopkins for all time greatest villain in this performance.

TLDW: if a hospital suspects a nurse might be killing patients but can't prove it, their best play is to just fire the nurse for some um-related reason and get them to go work somewhere else. The trouble is these "good nurses" always find another hospital willing to hire time and no one stops them.

Never mind a hunch - even a murder trial alleging that a nurse is killing patients may be based on nothing but bias, coincidence, and a poor knowledge of statistics.

Thank-you. This motivates me to study statistics. A quantitative truth seeker is doing exactly what is needed, and he did not need to know enough about computers to hack them (for example).

> The overall scheme involved the distribution of more than 7,600 fake nursing diplomas issued by three South Florida-based nursing schools

> "What is disturbing about this investigation is that there are over 7,600 people around the country with fraudulent nursing credentials who are potentially in critical health care roles treating patients..."

This aspect of it seems to warrant more attention. Presumably some didn't pass the license exam, quit, or retired but that is an enormous number of fake nurses. I assume they are concentrated in some particular area because they had to hear about the scheme somehow.

They did pass license exam using fake school diploma. The most probably these were nurses from out of U.S.

The diploma allows you to take the license exam, you still have to actually demonstrate the knowledge.

Of course if they already figured out how to get a fake diploma, a fake test taker doesn't seem out of the question.

They already worked as nurses elsewhere so they know the subject matter.

So they had real knowledge, but didn't have credentials.
