There was a piece in Wired four years ago about how Google has been playing the long game with influencing antitrust law in the US. Google’s lobbying efforts have certainly paid off; they operate as if they know they’re a monopoly and maximizing profits is a matter of delaying inevitable regulation for as long a possible.
