This post has a curious absence of even mentioning distrust of Google with yet more of our personal data, which was a major theme of discussion in all venues I saw this issue mentioned in, and certainly seemed to play a major part in distrust of an opt-out configuration.


This seems to be a nice example of maintainers of a popular open source project listening to feedback from the broader community:

This made my day. The public exercise of good judgement is so infrequent but very much delightful to behold.


well, at that point they might as well not implement it, as it will be well and truly useless
