It appears that the @drewharwell account this submission links to has also been suspended for some reason.

Thanks for pointing that out, that happened faster than I could hit reload. Drew Harwell is a Washington Post technology reporter who has worked there since 2014.

The text of that tweet (almost certainly what got him suspended - not sure whether it was the reporting on mastodon or the sarcasm about "Loving the free speech") was

Twitter just suspended a competitor's account (@joinmastodon ) because it posted a link to its own website's version of @ElonJet - public, legally acquired data that Twitter decided two days ago was against the rules. Loving the free speech (h/t @mmasnick )


Now Oliver Darcy, CNN media reporter, has posted a screenshot of Drew Harwell's tweet - will he be suspended too?

It appears Twitter has banned the accounts of Aaron Rupar (@atrupar ) and Washington Post reporter @drewharwell . Unclear why, but this seems to be the final tweet from Harwell.


NYT Journalist Ryan Mac and CNN Journalist Donie O'Sullivan has also been suspended, who had similar final tweets.

This is getting more Monty Python-esque every hour. Those responsible for reporting on the banning have been banned.
