Global tech giants accused of failing to prevent child sexual exploitation (abc.net.au)

This comes mere weeks after Apple abandoned plans for CSAM scanning due to public outrage and privacy concerns from virtually every expert in the field.

How is it possible for the e-Safety Commissioner be so disconnected from reality? Is she blissfully unaware or actively choosing to ignore the discourse?

I’m so sick of the “what about the children” argument. This is only ever used to implement laws that erode our privacy and rights while doing virtually nothing to prevent child abuse.

The report [0] itself even mentions Apple's abandonment of on-device scanning, as well as its plan to add end-to-end encryption to iCloud. eSafety has been curiously quiet about both of those announcements.
