Moving to Canada from Europe feels partly like time travelling back to the 90s. I get what the article means, but from a “every day user” point of view, there are many luxuries that I miss from Europe and that are downright strange in Canada. People here are still using faxes and paper cheques, there is no connected health care system. Financial and telecom apps are a joke. Phone calls are the dominant way of communication still it seems. Like companies will literally ask you to call them as opposed to emailing. Online booking systems for appointments are not that widespread.
Overall, while Canada has been a great place to live, in many ways I had to let go of the luxuries or EU tech.
(Oh and since moving to Canada I had to start using paper mail, like a post office, to send and receive government documents. Never in decades had to do so in EU)
