GitHub is removing the trending section (github.com/trending)

Super annoying as I use this for my job (devrel). Maybe we can complain loudly enough about it? You know they are tracking the data, so I wonder what the big gain is in retiring the public view.

Low usage? I use this pretty frequently and i thought others would too.

Google "GitHub Trending {insert programming language}"

It's, according to me, the best way to discover new and interesting projects.

This feels strange. I always go to this page by default almost every day. I'm curious what the rest of the community thinks.

I don't usually use it daily, as I find more value in the weekly/monthly views. Though I would love to know what "Due to low usage" actually is. Should I be visiting it daily? Is my weekly/monthly visit meaning it is "low usage"?

Same here. This seems like a very odd decision. The trending tab is how I keep up to date with new frameworks and projects.

github trending, and the social media aspects of github in general, are the major differentiator between github and all other git providers.

at present, github is the only social media worth using. dropping trending will damage github. perhaps something better will emerge to fill the void.
