I feel like this is a mistake. They should double down on free. All their competitors are offering free hobby level hosting from newcomers like Deno to old hands like Google, Azure and AWS.
The cost of running those dynos is not an engineering cost. It is a marketing investment that pays off in 3-4 years time.
They will be short term more profitable though I guess.
