This is far from the main discussion, but I used to be a "stinker" like the author describes, and I have a touch of unsolicited advice. Life is much happier if you save your obstinate streak for very limited, important occasions. Otherwise, you live your life ensnared in the negativity of trivial violations of your personal expectations about values and behavior.



Alternatively, we need people--nay... heroes--such as this, or bullies like Twitter get to run roughshod over everyone.


Obstinacy does not guarantee success. My advice is a variation of "pick your battles".

It's ok to have battles, just don't make them a big enough part of your life that it becomes your personality, and don't engage without proper forethought.
