I have the same response to video podcasts that I do for the plain audio kind: "Plain text or GTFO". If I can't just read what you have to say, then you have nothing of value to say. I'm not going to dick around with playback speed. I'm not going to sit through closed captions, especially if they're machine-generated. Unless you pulled it all out of your ass you probably have notes or a script. Make them available for people who can read faster than you can talk, which might well be most of your audience.

And for fuck's sake find a way to self-host your bullshit, because if you depend on a platform you don't own and you get thrown out for whatever reason, I'm not going to have any sympathy for you. I'm just going to laugh at you and say you had it coming because you weren't self-hosting. If you can't afford to self-host, then you can't afford to do multimedia and should probably stick to blogging.
