That's...not terribly long for a new OS intended for consumer products? This isn't like ChromeOS or Android where it's building on top of Linux, it's practically all-new, at least as I understand it.

And they actually did ship on one class of Nest devices recently. It's a limited use case, but that's expected for the first product release.
