Signal to add closed-source spam detection (signal.org)

> To keep Signal a free global communication service without spam, we must depart from our totally-open posture and develop one piece of the server in private: a system for detecting and disrupting spam campaigns.

It has been irreversibly admitted this time; quite painfully confessed by Signal. The point of no return that Signal is no longer free, libre and open source software (FLOSS).

It was disqualified anyway as a privacy-based messenger due to requiring your phone number. Now it is completely disqualified as a FLOSS messenger; all thanks to using your phone number.

What a shame.

You don't need FOSS on the server for E2EE and would not be able to verify that it was anyway. This is on the server.
