Calorie counting or IF works better for me (I've done both). Let's me eat anything I want, just less of it.
Eating high carb / junk food triggers cravings and overeating.
Eating protein, greens, etc... Makes eating the correct amount of calories much easier, as I actually feel full.
That said, my sister has the same experience as you. She can lose weight eating Pizza, as long as it's the correct amount of Pizza.
