I see way too many young/inexperienced tech teams STILL using an unmaintainable process of just spinning up an EC2 instance for random crap because there is no deployment strategy at the company.


Yup, k8s is at least standardized in a way that’s somewhat sane.

Before k8s every org I worked for had an absolute mess of tangled infrastructure

"We can do it ourselves!" attitude by people who are unskilled is the source of many legacy hell-webs sitting in companies all over the world that are desperately trying to be maintained by their inheritors.


Not responsive to the argument. k8s is maybe a "deployment strategy", but it's certainly not the only one. Or the best one for all circumstances.
