Hungary decided to bypass EU regulators and approve several vaccines that aren't approved in the EU, as well as procure them with their own deals.

You don't need to bypass regulators, all countries can approve it themselves. That's also how the UK approved their vaccines before the Brexit deal took effect.

There is no need to bypass the EU regulators as each EU country has its own regulatory body which has national authority.

The EU is a trade-bloc, full stop. The EMA is there to make it easier for pharma.

The highest vaccination rate of any EU country is Hungry with about half of the US's rate which in turn is a bit behind the UK[1].

In light of this, I am curious how you see EMA making it easier for pharma. Is there an underlying issue that I a missing?
