Their list of public domain films is great! https://vole.wtf/voleflix/ Hadn’t realized that even some 1960s films are in the public domain.

I was pleasantly suprised to see that many of these seem to have ok video quality (all I tried had a 720p option on youtube, although the actual quality is often much lower than that, sadly including His Girl Friday).

A bit bland and in-your-face when compared to the best of the Old Internet, but it warms me to see that someone is at least trying.

Their Ganksy AI is giving me Beksiński vibes. Perhaps it was trained on him?

Site is pretty awesome, I've been messing around for quite some time now.

I was impressed by Voleflix [1], I love old movies and the collection is pretty great.

This is one of the most beautifully crafted websites I've seen. The mobile experience in particular is practically flawless and a joy to use.

I'm someone who holds inconsistent "innovative" website navigation systems (particularly mystery-meat types) up as one of my most ardent pet peeves, and I have fond memories of sharing vents over the various architects' websites that won Vincent Flanders' annual "Websites That Suck" awards back in the day.

Somehow this site manages to wade headfirst into those same experimental areas that have long caused such navigational headaches to visitors and emerged completely unscathed and victorious.

I like my nonsense a bit more pure: https://superbad.com/

You have to click the page to even see anything at first? That's neat

Reminds me of castlezzt (which is, alas, gone)

Reminds me quite a bit of what hell.com used to be, 20+ years ago.

"Vole wtf" made me think it might be a Czech page, since that's something someone might say (see https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/vole#Czech ) but looking at the list of contributors, I don't see anyone Czech.

So this was at least your bit of trivia for today.

Not sure why you are getting downvoted. You're correct, it looks like something Czech to me too.

Lovely. I like that it has a cookie to remember the post-it locations. My only complaint is that it looks _too_ nice and polished!

I really like this.

EYESTRUCK on the Netflix UI clone lol well done!!
