We HAVE to as an industry disavow & replace this behavior with techniques to build trust between the security team and the rest of the employees.
The people, not the technology are the real eyes and ears on the ground. They are a massively beneficial resource for a security team of any size. Why would you squander that relationship with cheap trickery and deceit?
