OpenOffice is a better name, easier to remember, especially if you're not "in the community."

Outsiders may have read an article about some city or institution using OpenOffice, probably not LibreOffice.

"LibreXyz" is not part of the working vocabulary of outsiders.

This will be an issue as long as something called OpenOffice is downloadable.

OpenOffice works better on old machines, it is plainly lighter. I do not bother to install it Linuxe distros, where it comes by default, but on old windows machines OpenOffcie is very useful.

I suspect that it is geographically biased towards countries with older machines and low incomes. Does LibreOffice work on a 10 year old laptop running XP?

Not in particular. From the article:

> Exploring the download statistics deeper, OpenOffice received more than 20 million downloads this year so far, most of them were from the US and France. The download locations are fairly distributed around the world, so the situation isn’t that just a subgroup in one country is causing all the downloads:

It did until recently (6.x series).

With 7.x series, XP is not suported anymore.
