This seems a bit unfair as github is kind of "the" place for Rubyists (especially those working with Rails) to publicly host code. Different communities seemingly embrace different tools. It's quite likely that the JAVA and C++ communities favor some alternative to github.

If we looked at launchpad.net instead of github, would the story be the same?
