I've been frustrated over the years to see programmers rewarded for putting in extraordinary amounts of effort - often due to crises of their own making. The guy that designs and builds a service that's delivered on-time and works without major issues gets ignored but we'll heap praise (and money) on the guy that has to work 80 hour weeks for 2 months after the due date or the guy that works all weekend to fix a bug that he caused in the first place.



Yes! I've seen the worst team in the company get praised, wined and dined because they pulled the customers bacon out of the fire - the fire they created by bad programming.
