The Mount Everest of evolutionary biology is to create life from inert chemicals. Science assumes it's possible but has yet to prove it can be done. This may be a significant step in that direction.

Nope. You could have evolved from microbes that arrived on an asteroid.

Until someone actually does it --- creates life from inert chemicals, it remains an unproven assumption.
