Ericsson has something similar for cellular signals over CAT5 called Ericson Dot [0]. Though I believe they have it at baseband or intermediate frequency in the cable and then shift it up in the Dot. Disclosure, I worked at Ericsson when the first Dot was released, but never with it myself. But they were really proud of it I remember.
