E.g., what about someone who hasn't touched Java in a while, but does have gobs of C++ and Python experience and is willing to dive back into Java?

If you are a strong, experienced developer who hasn't touched Java in a while but is happy to work in Java that does not exclude you.

If your are an awesome Scala (or other) developer who wants to work in Scala (or other) then this is not the place for you.

With that said, productivity in Java is important!
